Sunday Scenery - Vancouver Views

There are a few details I'd like to point out in this photo. The mountain range seen is the North Shore mountain range and it includes Black Mountain, Hollyburn Mountain, Mount Strachan, Mount Fromme, Grouse Mountain, Mount Seymour and many more. The white sails on the left of the photo is a section of Canada Place where the cruise ships dock. Again on the left, the tallest building is Harbour Centre, which offers a 360 degree view of Vancouver from the rotating tower. The waterway is Burrard Inlet and it separates the City of Vancouver from the slopes of the North Shore Mountains, home to the communities of West Vancouver and the City and District of North Vancouver.

"Protected from the open ocean, the calm waters of Burrard Inlet form Vancouver's primary port area, an excellent one for large oceangoing ships. While some of the shoreline is residential and commercial, much is port-industrial, including railyards, terminals for container and bulk cargo ships, grain elevators, and (towards the eastern end) oil refineries."
