Blueberry Jam

I recently went blueberry picking in Surrey, BC. There are lots of blueberry farms in Surrey and the city hosts an annual blueberry festival every year.

It was my first time picking these berries from the vine and I strangely felt connected to what I was eating. It's different from the pre-packaged trays in the grocery store and the taste was so much better. I probably ate half of what was picked and still had quiet a lot left over so I decided to make blueberry jam. Having never made jam before I was rather surprised at how well it turned out. It was actually delicious.

Oh, I LOVE blueberries! They never get as far as being cooked though. They're very expensive over here in England, so I buy a small punnet, wash them and just eat them like that.

Love the pictures - the first is my favourite, although it was close. I love the second one, too!

Yummy looking blueberries! We used to go berry picking when I was a young girl growing up and I have many happy memories of those times! Thanks for sharing and have a happy BLUE MONDAY!

Lucky you to have blueberries such as these. They are very expensive in the supermarkets here in France. I did try growing my own this year and had a crop from 6 bushes of just 250 g! Enough for 12 muffins, boy did they taste good.

You are so right about the difference in taste between pre-packaged and fresh picked. Glad you enjoyed your blueberries and also glad you posted the photos.

Never tasted Blue Berry Jam before. I would love to try that for breakfast. Next time when you post about food do a favour and describe its flavour.
